"What to See"" will be intended for the visitor who is prepared to spend some time looking at the fortifications in any of six areas.It will showwhat can be seen now and will give a continuous history of the defences in that area. "The Last Hundred Years" will be a more detailed and critical description of the tremendous development which followed the threat of invasion from France in the late 1850's and resulted in Plymouth being ringed with forts on the land side and defended by progressively more modern coast defences until after the end of WW2.
